Sun bought MySQL

If you don't know by now, I'm a huge advocate of OSS (open source software). I think its wonderful that programmers around the world come together to write software that is just as good if not better than the closed source counter-part....and all for FREE (as in beer, as in speech). I have just learned that Sun Microsystems bought the ever so popular open source database MySQL. This is scary. Luckily, Sun has been opening up some of their projects. This means they like OSS. I mean, they really are the reason openoffice.org is around today. They opened up their StarOffice software. So this is good news. Sun won't kill MySQL...hopefully. The LAMP stack is popular and, in my opinion, is the way to go. But somehow I think Java might end up in that stack...which....would that really be a bad thing?
